I watched this the way it was meant to be watched: via a super-compressed file I downloaded from Discord while stoned out of my mind. Couldn't tell what was going on half the time, but that seems to be pretty par for the course. It's a total mess, obviously shot and edited and reshot and reedited a hundred times, dropping plotlines at a moment's notice and giving us no real emotional through-line. The worst of modern filmmaking, basically. Deserving of all the memes, which I love.

Worse than I thought. How do I get Sony to hire me to write a better movie? Bad/confusing editing, characterization, motivations, development... Even a by-the-numbers plot with more best friends/mentorship would have been an improvement. Zero chemistry w/20+ years younger (!) romantic interest. Nonsensical post-credits scenes. I guess the smoke effects were cool but then they got really old. Fav scene: lurking around the ship was scary, but the rest of the film was head-on fighting.

It's really quite impressive a film with a 75+ million dollar budget has so many mistakes, a terrible plot, and such unimpressive action. Why did the mercenaries attack Morbius? So he could kill them. Why was Morbius on a ship with mercenaries? So he could kill them. Unfortunately, the early laughs I had at how terrible it was declined in the second half as it become more mediocre (which is honestly worse than being terrible).

Sony finally did it. They finally produced their “The Happening” of comic book movies. Almost less than a movie. I enjoying laughing at the horrible absurdity of it all. Dialogue, line delivery, visuals, directing choices and character choices were bafflingly horrendous at times. The most cooperate-made movie I’ve seen in years. There’s a halfway decent story in there somewhere, but all potential is pretty much wasted. Inconsistent pacing keeps it from being a guilty pleasure. Loved Matt Smith.

Morbius is incredibly tedious with regards to the screenplay (opening in medias res, expositional childhood, friends becoming enemies fighting with the same powers) and the characters. Occasionally an action sequence would be visually interesting, but this feeling quickly passes when the characters start talking. Smith hams it up; Harris lacks presence; Madrigal's comic relief is painfully out of place; and Leto...was better when he was in 30 seconds to Mars.

Starts off really well & different when it's focused on 2 despairing, un-Marvel-like friends who've spent their lives w/ a crippling illness, but when Morbius is given something to really feel guilty over, the script - to no one's surprise - switches to the demands of formula. It dare not be as tragic & troubling as it should be, so we get a villain who's immediately & unnecessarily ok w/ killing people & predictable romantic arc. Still it looks good & follows the comic more than I expected

Ahh, Morbius. The latest entry in the internet's whiny ongoing saga, "OMG WORST MOVIE EVER (this week)". Spoilers: it's not. Lots of stuff that makes little, or no, sense, sure, especially towards the end, but Morbius is a solid example of "the best idea is to formulate your own opinion on movies instead of accepting everyone else's". I enjoyed Adria Arjona despite the weakish material and obligatory romance she was given. Marvel playing the "LOL multiverse" card opens all kinds of doors.

This is what happens when you take two of the dullest, worst actors working today and make them the two leads of an FX heavy genre flick. At least Venom had a charismatic performance from Tom Hardy to save it. Morbius suffers from lacking any narrative structure of interest and then shoehorning in a few random action scenes to fill out the time. For me unless I'm forgetting something obvious Morbius is the worst CBM by far since MCU changed the landscape all those years ago

For a while I thought the memes and jokes were too aggressive. It’s not good, but competent, up to a certain point. Matt Smith chews up the scenery real nice and the weird quirks in the screenplay are entertaining. Then the completely incoherent third act hit and I was left befuddled, then it just… ended. That said, the entire plot could have been made redundant by opening up a blood drive, sooo…

I was promised a terrible movie but it was just bland. By the time the story gets going, the movie simply ends, in a way that feels almost abrupt. Don't care for the post credit bait at all. But I must give credit where credit is due: the acting was alright, the fights and effects weren't bad, it wasn't a total heap of garbage, just extremely uninteresting.

I'm not going to sit here and say I didn't enjoy it because I did. Leto was decent here. Some of the effects are cool. The final battle was very mediocre and confusing visually, while also being pretty unsatisfying. The romance was so bland it was almost non-existent. There were some wonky scenes like that dancing part, the roof, the ending, etc. But it was also kinda fun, despite the hokeyness. And I guess that's all I needed to give this a decent score.

It honestly wasn’t terrible. Apart from two transition sequences that MADE NO SENSE. Spoilers! The cop capturing Morbius on the rooftop. How did he get there? Was he able to control the wind that stopped Morbius? Tfw? Worst part for me were the facial monster designs. They looked ridiculous. Like a crackhead who’s destroyed their nose with coke. What I’m most in awe about is that Leto is fikken 50 and looks easily half his age. He definitely keeps a portrait in an attic somewhere!

Joker and Venom (2018) had filthy sex in the unlit basement of a hospital and four years later gave birth to this film - a ridiculous Sony antihero film that would be comically bad except that it attempts to do for chronically ill folks what Joker tried to do for the mentally ill: prove that these people are one nudge away from gleeful murder. Neither of its parents should have been allowed to procreate.

Honestly the movie wasn't as bad as I expected, the action was pretty cool and the CGI rather spectacular in fact, good job guys. And he was real good, literally the best actor in the movie.

Jared Leto is one of the most overrated actors working today in my opinion. I've liked plenty of movies that he was in but never because he was in them. To make matters worse the editing and camerawork were both annoying and ruined a lot of scenes and the less said about the script the better. But here's the thing this wasn't terrible in fact I think I liked this better than Venom 2018, Fantastic Four (2005), among quite a few others.

Leto delivers an uncharacteristically dull performance that, to be fair, perfectly suits the film. (Only Al Madigral breathes life into his scenes as a wisecracking FBI agent.) And the climax devolves into a headache-inducing barrage of blurry CGI nonsense, the solution of choice to films attempting to pound audiences into submission. But Morbius at least gets the business of franchise-extending done. It’s a box checked off. But is it really a movie?

No surprises this was awful. Jared Leto is terrible and Matt Smith was annoying. CGI was laughingly bad and the slow-mo action and wonky editing made things borderline unwatchable. I did like the way his powers were portrayed, with the smokey fastpaced thing and his bat radar. Those did look cool. The pacing is well enough also. Morbius is incredibly flawed from a screenwriting perspective. Between underdeveloped character arch’s and illogical sequences, it’s surprising this wasn’t tweaked more in reshoots. To his credit, Leto was very serviceable to this character, and the movie has some interesting ideas, but it really does feel like this movie belonged in the mid 2000’s with it’s considerable amount of flaws. Ultimately, not good. However, they are plenty of worse comic book movies to compare itself to.

If you must shoehorn vampire lore into the MCU, this is as plausible a way as possible, I suppose. Leto and Smith have a lot of fun with it. That said, the film just randomly gives Morbius the power to fly on a purple wave, and makes both Morbius and Milo indestructible with no explanation. So a film that starts out reasonably just becomes silly by the end. Not recommended unless you feel a need to see every film in the Spider Man multiverse.

This feels like a throwaway Marvel film and perhaps it was, although some end credits sequences suggest that Morbius may eventually have his spot in the larger Marvel universe. As a standalone film, however, it feels like a more rushed Blade knock-off, with dark action sequences, some cheesy one-liners, and a mostly morbid and dour mood that sucks all the fun out of the film. Leto does what he can with the character, but the rest of the cast is pretty paper thin and uncompelling.

"Morbius" is a subpar supervillain movie that fails to stand out among other comic book movies. The film sacrifices nuanced conversations for generic action and occasional beats of horror, making it feel like a missed opportunity to deliver something fresh to audiences. The strong pace and standout performance by Matt Smith are not enough to save this movie from its weak script and emotionally stilted lead.
