A bunch of British navy dudes are trapped in a sunken sub and face certain death with hilariously inappropriate and frighteningly chipper stoicism. I kept waiting for one of the officers to insist that the others should eat him in order to survive. Decent acting, but the direction was pretty flat. The only scene with real palpable tension was when they were dealing out cards to see which men would get the last available scuba suits. That was a great scene in an otherwise OK movie.

Not spectacular in any area, but a solid drama with a very British sense of resilience and fortitude. Stiff upper lip and all that, eh chaps? It's a bit of a slow-burn to begin with, and there were times when I felt it wasn't quite as tense or claustrophobic as the situation demanded (again, that British stoicism), but it's carried along nicely by some fine acting and a strong sense of character development.

Not bad.

A competent effort with a good script that doesn't talk down to its audience. Considering the premise, the direction does remarkably little to create much feeling of tension or suspense. The procedural element was actually more interesting to me than the plot, but it did manage to deliver a surprise.

Cooks up a solid dose of sunken submarine drama. All kinds of destinies and scenarios. Not the most engaging underwater doom, but there is something to that old British calm that give its unique life.
