Mosley

Very strange topic for a kid's movie, with the corruption of slavery going as far as making it mild non graphic body horror, and learned helplessness. Very dark when you think about it. But the fairy-tale like element of the legends driving the character was intriguing and original. At first I thought it was a yike theme and meh character design, but in the end the plot and designs grew on me. The animation is not the best but it is well sufficient

Despite a slow start, Mosley is pretty enjoyable film that doesn't conform to the checklist of must-contains that plague big name animated films; musical numbers, quippy jokes (though Darby still entertains), a contemporary theme. Instead it broaches slavery in an upfront way touching upon ideas of self-determination, a laudable effort for a kids film. Naturally, it lacks the polish of a high budget and several screen-testings, but offers something that feels different and that's good.

This was surprisingly adorable. A sweet story of abused animals on four-legs searching to find the magic apples that'll make them walk on two and grow hands. Odd, kinda standard, yet with a beating heart. We enjoyed it all four.
