People sure fell in love fast back then.

Rather convoluted way to get the pilots to follow on as ground commandos (sort-of) and a poor and false rip-off of the Dambusters. Good war flick none the less. In David McCallum entire acting career did he just turn up with the same RAF uniform?

the big failure for me is that, despite some interesting thoughts about warfare and death, and some attempts at big derring-do, this film never gets a blip of the heart on the emotional scale -- for either drama or action. the plane scenes look competent enough, even if they aren't thrilling. and mccallum's performance was good enough to keep the film moving as it was centered around him. but it just felt so lackluster overall
