Mosul

Some of the action was somewhat confusing and unfortunately difficult to follow but I appreciated its authenticity and realism. Soldiers making deadly mistakes, explosives not going off, important characters dying unceremoniously, ... A lot of details in this movie gave it a kind of truthfulness that overcame its shortcomings.

Grounded and realistic. My PSI was way off for this one. Glad I watched it. Excellent film. No complaints.

A unique perspective of the Iraqi war, which is certainly refreshing, but "Mosul" had some tough limitations because of a lower budget. It takes a hell of a lot of money to make a modern war movie, and while "Mosul" performed admirably, it just didn't have the kind of action I was hoping for.

A well crafted action film that benefits from a strong sense of place, and some incredibly intense performances. Aldabbach is the standout here. His Jameer is a lost soul wandering a no man's land of corpses, riding a cycle of escalating violence and brutality. "I'll never go back," he says about his former life. You get the feeling he saves a boy because he has to do something to make up for all the killing he's done.

Wow what a great movie! Independent movie with no name actors & low budget (doesn't seem that way). Definitley one of the better war movies in the past 5 years. Can watch on netflix.
