Mother of George

For the start it looked like a plain cheap low budget movie. Maybe it was low budget, but a league of it's own shooting made this film actually shine. The story's got an interesting twist and a well achieved end. There was a lot of edge I liked.

There's a lot of off-center, slightly disorienting shots, which are occasionally gorgeous but also frequently distracting. It's a deliberate artistic decision, I know, but the naturalistic and compelling story needed a less ostentatious style.

Serious business drama about domestic stresses in a Nigerian family. It looks good, feels real but it didn't impact me that much. Might need to be in the right mood for it.
