This could've been better if it weren't so unfair to Lester. It's perfectly reasonable to want to know about a girl's past before committing, but he's made to be such an asshole whenever it's discussed. The opening narration tells you exactly what you're supposed to think. What's your point Noah? A Good Man Shouldn't Care? And Lester's jealous that his girlfriend dated a handsome and successful novelist? I'd be proud. Worry instead about the worst guys she's been with

Solid. Baumbach's voice-over works. His two other indie films from the nineties are worth seeking out as well.

Coming back to this after later Baumbachs really gives you a sense of how masculine his earlier works are (and I don't mean that in a bad way). "He puts on his pants one leg at a time too"

The movie just felt flat. Its hard to single any one thing out because the acting, directing, and screenplay were all very well done. This movie just didn't have that extra something that Kicking and Screaming did.

Super underrated Baumbach flick.

I guess I am becoming more like a Noah Baumbach character with each passing day. This movie is smart and hilarious. It's not as good as Kicking and Screaming, but it has a similar spirit and many of the same actors doing similarly great things. Also, very few things are as good as Kicking and Screaming. Chris Eigeman is a national treasure.

Another film I need to see again. I know I've seen it on IFC and remember liking it, as I like both Eric Stoltz and Noah Baumbach in general.

On 2nd viewing, I'm reminded of what I liked best... the way it plays with and alludes to storytelling, the characters who are different representations of each other.

Sweet funny comedy...Eric Stoltz is terrific...good dialogue...endearing light film that has more to it than appears on the surface.
