Mrs Harris Goes to Paris

I did not choose to watch this. It is a two hour long commercial for Dior. As ashleylm said, 'nice people being nice to one another.' Also I looked up the conversion rate for the dress cost in 1950s money and the main character clearly has a mental disorder.

Nice people being nice to one another, which is nice. Sometimes too nice. It all felt a bit artificial, which the novel didn't (it was clearly a fairy tale with a middle-aged cleaning lady as Cinderella); everyone was just a bit too pretty in the movie for it to ring true. (They even had the trope of taking glasses off and becoming beautiful, only for the male accountant this time).

A fairy tale portrayed almost as life, which is the film's great downfall. It started off fantastically, but as time went on it just got too nice. It felt like a Christmas advert, just with a teleporting model instead of Santa.

While it may not break new ground, “Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris” is a cozy, heartwarming film that offers a welcome escape into a charming world of 1950s fashion and romance. With strong performances and beautiful costumes, it’s an enjoyable watch for those looking for a feel-good story.

Cozy and surreal boomerfeature

An irresistible treat, feeling like a throwback to the SHIRLEY VALENTINE era of a woman of a certain age "finding herself" in an exotic locale. This material almost guarantees a genial crowdpleaser, and this delivers in spades, thanks to Manville's warm and loveable performance, plus Huppert, who brings a surprisingly tender vulnerability to her hard-as-nails snobby "shopgirl". Maybe goes on a little long, and cynics perhaps best be warned it's a very idealised view of this story and characters!

Charming, warm, boring. A good Dior ad, I guess.

Lesley Manville est aussi merveilleuse qu'une Meryl Streep. Cette histoire est une énième supercherie à base de coïncidences, de bons sentiments, de rebondissements improbables mais je prends le piège, je le mange et finalement je me régal. Lucas Bravo est particulièrement délicieux.

Mrs. Harris is like The Devil Wears Prada meets Pretty Woman. At its core, it's a feel-good film that indulges in plenty of RomCom clichés in a fantastical fashion. For the most part this is all fine, but the 3rd act's use of crisis to hum up tension cheapens the entire film. There's a slight subtext of coping with the inevitability of death by seeing whether you can inject change into the world around you, but this doesn't really feature as a theme. Light, fluffy entertainment about being kind.

Cinematography is unimaginative but it's really sweet

A movie based on a documentary of the Christian Dior house. Not really, but seems like it. Watchable though

Hits all the feel good tropes with half the believability needed to get lost in the magic.
