Lynch is undebatably a cinematic master. To be able to conceive and pull off telling a story this complex, ambiguous and - arguably - profound he must also be no less than a genius. The nature of the film's narrative lets the viewer solve (and forever reinterpret) his tantalizing riddle. I love Watts' effervescent performance, her character's audition, the Silencio show, the small bursts of comedy and, more than anything, the first scene at Winkie's, perhaps the best ever committed to celluloid.

Surreal, unsettling, hilarious, brutal, hypnotic... MD is all these things and more. I know people who hate this film for its apparent refusal to make sense or deliver any easy answers, but those willing to unravel its mysteries will find their subsequent viewings enriched. Whether or not you "get it" (I mean, I *think* I do...), this is a uniquely cinematic experience that everyone should have at least twice.

Notorious for its ambiguity, yet distinguished for its perspicuity, Mulholland Drive gives the viewer an overt, yet magnificent picture of the duality of a Hollywood-hopeful actress. Vicious and sinister, while poignant and uncensored; beautiful, yet ominous -- there really isn't enough that can be said about this movie. Each viewer will make his or her own interpretation, perhaps receiving an entirely different meaning altogether; and that's really the splendor of this movie. Stunning.

The build-up is off-putting [in a sense, deceptive is a better term. especially on first watch] but everything past the halfway point ranked immediately among my favorite movie moments; also boasts a ridiculous level of rewatchability. Justin Theroux is a special pleasure of mine in this, only eclipsed by Watts giving what could be the performance of the decade. I don't think I've ever seen a role take on so many forms - that goes double for the narrative.

It's good but I'll be honest and say I certainly didn't get it all but really, with Lynch, I think a lot is left up to the viewer to decipher and decide for themselves, oppose to "get" what Lynch is trying to do. So, in that respect, I feel the film worked quite well. I've always enjoyed Lynch's dream-like quality that he gives all his films and this is no exception. Naomi Watts is great and even the beginning with her character make sense after you get what she's going through in her mind.

complex and wonderful, and one of Lynch's best if you ask me. Mulholland Drive is an abnormal heterogeneous of various woven shards of film, and in addition to that it's nicely pulled together and it's difficult to classify in the categories of movies. Hard to understand and something that you might not totally like the first time. Ingenius and attractive to the blinded and naked eye.

This film is full of twists and turns and is completely disorienting. The more you watch it the more you can see how the threads sort of fit together, but there's no explanation that makes everything really gel. We get a dream that feels more realistic than the film's reality and an uncertain timeline to work with, but the whole manages to just feel like it works even if the story probably can't be completely resolved in the end.

I can think of no greater tribute to Lynch's films (or Angelo Badalamenti's scoring for them) than when I was listening to the Mulholland Dr. soundtrack while driving around in the rain one day. Suddenly, everything seems a little off, a little abnormal. The traffic lights seemed to be glowing unusually bright. A man standing on the corner suddenly took on a strange significance -what was he up to, standing there in the rain without an umbrella? I felt a knot of dread in my stomach.

Thoughts on this movie, just like the plot, will be evolving for a while. Watts' layered acting is impressive, but it's not really even fair to call this a movie; moreso an abstract piece of surreal performance art. Is it a dream? Are these people real? Visually and thematically, it's the younger sister of Lynch's 'Twin Peaks,' complete with odd characters and heavily symbolic red curtains. As in every Lynch production, the music is great and there are interesting visual flairs in each frame.

I'm surprised this achieved such main stream success while the same critics pan Lost Highway as an incoherent dead end. After a rewatch and some research it does all make sense, but it's still no less enigmatic than LH. Fischler going in back of Winkie's was breathtaking. Lynch is the master of instilling that clammy, deafening fear. The espresso scene was beyond hilarious. I was caught off guard by the lack of score, but Lynch relishes in the silence, using it to great effect throughout

Lynch makes his clues incredibly FUN to discover, and furthermore allows his film to be interpreted in any number of ways. And most important of all, it's simply a joy to experience the work, whether you're trying to make sense of it or not. It tells a noir-esque story of Hollywood ambition and drenches it in the Lynchian aesthetic and dreamlike logic. It's haunting and fascinating and hilarious and sexy and riveting. The Baladamenti score is terrific as always, and the film looks gorgeous.

Mesmerising and layered exploration of a blurred line between fantasy and reality. This is a film which rewards repeat viewings; each viewing reveals further clues, details and, occasionally, more questions. For me, each viewing also makes the protagonist's story more devastating, but nonetheless this remains a film which is a lot of fun to watch. Excellent. Favourite scene? The espresso tasting...

I think a big part of the film's successis that in spite of its strong-willed weirdness, I was never completely lost. There was always something that I could follow that was either masterfully mysterious, horrifying, or hilarious. There's something so delectably unique about the outwardly wholesome components of Lynch's films. Betty's brand of "Aw, shucks! I'm just a small-town girl in Hollywood" isn't a completely original trope, but her character remains unlike any other. An entrancing film.

The most flawless mystery story from David Lynch is a vision of Hollywood as a perilous dreamland. It offers just enough context to lead you into the lynchian bog of ''who's playing who?'' & ''WTF just happened?'' leaving you to connect the dots and make your own kind of sense out of it while at the same time being rewarding & strangely coherent on a gut-level. What a truly sad tale this is. Poor Diane. - Acting was breathtaking. Especially the look into Betty's audition. Amazing. Directing made this movie fun to watch, although I'm sure I still would have liked it if it were shot in sequence. Lynch did a beautiful job, though, discerning Diane's reality with her dream by using wonderful techniques with the color and score. Then it all comes together at Club Silencio. This is where the entire film's "secret" is revealed. Best scene in the movie!

Tense as anything I've ever seen. Marvellously well filmed. But I just don't "get it". Exposition is deliberately avoided of course, but my disorientation wasn't a rewarding experience. Yes the mundane becomes horrific (sort of), but to what end? Meaning is left wide open to interpretation; so what? Great movie. What I really liked in this movie, is how the cinematography with the hand of the director, created really suspenseful scenes. Furthermore, the use of symbolism was really neat. However, on the first watch, it felt a bit strange after you passed 3/4 of the film. It then really transforms the film in which firstly there was a sense that the events happened chronological. After this, the film gets a bit hazy. Which is good in its own way, because its unique. However, I was lost.

The best David Lynch movie. Complex, erotic, and mind bending.

I understand it (yep) but I still don't think it's overly fantastic, even if I can see why others do. Watts is great. When is she not great?

David Lynch is the master of being able to simultaneously weird out and creep out the audience. This film builds up an air of strangeness throughout it like I've never seen before. It's a haunting, confusing, nightmarish ride that I just love to puzzle over.
