The heartwarming film that proves that cripples can be jocks you would never want to spend any time with, just like anyone else. Aww :-)

Sports doco should probably play better than it does; the pitfalls and travails (and built in inspirational/aspirational elements) should make this a slam-dunk, but the focus is too scattered and uncertain, not helped by their subjects' varying attitudes on 'opening up' for the camera. The Murderball matches also lack tension and excitement. However, the novelty of the subject keeps it watchable; it's just a shame that by default or design, more insight wasn't able to be delivered.

I hesitate to use the word 'inspiring' to describe this film because 'inspiring' coupled with a bunch of guys in wheelchairs overcoming their difficulties makes this sound like a very different, milder, more insipid movie than it is. On the contrary, it's a rocking, rolicking documentary about the unbelievable sounding sport of wheechair rugby and the men who play it. And, yet, inspiring it is -- in all the best, most delightful, and truest connotations of the word. Highly recommended.

I don't know where people get 'heartwarming' and 'inspirational' from after they watch this. If anything, it shows that a life debilitating injury isn't going to magically change you into a decent person.

Plenty of interesting people but none are expanded upon enough. Also, the sport itself is pretty dull.

Compelling in large part because most of these guys are unrepentant assholes, which takes the focus off making you feel sorry for them. The film still tries, and occasionally succeeds, but for the most part it remains an interesting look into a strange sport and living with the disabilities required to play it.

This is a great example of what happens when the right people set out to make a documentary about a deserving subject. It's revealing without being intrusive, compelling without being manipulative, and all around, a great watch.

Kind of like 'King of Kong' set on a much more tragic backdrop. What I learned from 'Murderball' is that a debilitating injury doesn't really change assholes.

A very engaging documentary examining the world of wheelchair rugby and the lives of the men who define the sport. Mark Zupan is particularly fascinating, a terrific character in both film and reality. The intensity of the games is great, and the doc is really eye-opening as to what their lives are like without being condescending or preachy. This looked like an interesting film, but I was surprised at how entertaining it was. Who knew the sport was so loaded with drama?? Go Canada Go!

It is a good watch but a little out of balance. It focuses on the players lives but never even focuses on a single Canadian player, which is a bit strange. Still an ok doc. .

Excellent doc about quadraplegic rugby, and it's not at all what you'd expect. It never begs for sympathy for its subjects, nor does it ask you to be inspired by them. There are some really interesting and captivating characters here, who don't let their disabilities define their personalities.

I literally just got done watching this movie. I have to admit to being a less than compassionate person, but this really got me hooked. You learned to feel for the guys, but not to feel sorry for them. This is an amazingly engaging documentary about something I really never knew existed, but at the same time, it's not only a documentary. I actually got anxious watching the matches, wanting the U.S. to win. Terrific.

This is a solid documentary on one of the coolest sports you've never heard of. It's got action, heart, comedy...the works. Don't miss the bonus features on the DVD either.

"It knows how to cover its bases, but its tidy structure doesn't exactly gel with the rough-and-tumble nature of the sport at its center." - Ed Gonzalez

Overall this is a good movie. You really get to know several characters and their backgrounds. It would have been nice to have more scenes of the characters actually playing the sport.

A great all-around documentary that illuminates universal themes--passion, rivalry, rebirth--by immersing the audience in the very specific world of elite quad rugby athletes. Informative and sympathetic without any pandering.

James Caan's Canada battle Eminem & friends in team USA to become the dominant world quad rugby force. But don't expect a great sports doc here. The main focus is on the lives of the players and various aspects of their disabilities (how they got there, daily routines, sex lives, etc.). While some of this is interesting, much is so-so and never gets weaved into the sport successfully. Blame therefore must be put on the amatuerish direction, especially the limp coverage of the 'climactic' finale.

People with problems of all kinds channel their energy into a sport. But that sport can't keep all of the demons at bay. It's ultimately inspiring, as life is a struggle for everyone, but how many of us would give up if we found ourselves confined to a wheelchair? It's a conflicted, quality documentary.
