Reasonably well made, but suffers from a slow and meandering pace and a relentlessly unlikable main character, despite García's best efforts.

gelgitli kafası, gerçeklik ve kurmaca yaklaşımı konusunda hafiften larrain'in neruda'sına öykünen yanları ve bunlar üzerinden söylediği şeyler filmi ilgi çekici kılsa da tempo ve kurgu açısından problem yaşıyor. sürükleyici hikayeyi "spektakülerlik" dışında anlatma isteği ötesinde bir tercih bu ve hikayenin öne çıkan yanlarının törpülenmesine sebep oluyor.

The movie is based on a true robbery that shocked mexican people when it happened. But as an adaptation script, it has weak sides in my opinion. Firstly, characters, especially main character juan, don't have enough deepness. Tempo of the movie slow downs in the second part and it could be a little boring. And gael garcia is at 40 now, a younger artist could be chosen for juan who is early 20's in the film.

Not bad, but it didn't really engage as much as I thought it would. Maybe because Gael's character is utterly unlikeable.

Less procedural than expected, given this is a heist of opportunity -- museo was closed during vacation for maintenance -- orchestrated by two vet students with empty minds. Second half way more boring than it should be, but the general picture makes the case for a stylish and well-shot entertainment -- Ruizpalacios is always aiming for perfect shots, momentum and noisy music, maybe a little too much.

This is a slow-paced movie for sure but I figure this is done intentionally, very intentionally indeed. Its magical realism, reminding Márquez (ironically set in the city he has died in), takes us to a beautiful mental walk in history, geography, antiquity and colonialism.

Based on a true story, this daring heist thriller deserves to sit alongside Rififi and the like. It's wickedly funny and jangles the nerves equally. Featuring some nifty camerawork and a brilliant performance by Bernal, it's a must-see.

overall ok. but what i found intriguing about this one is the take of the narrator on history and causality behind certain behaviors which remain unexplained.
