This movie is fairly predictable and unsurprising, but that doesn't really matter. It's just so well-made I have no complaints. It owes much of its effectiveness to the superb actors portraying the witnesses at the trial.

All-around great.

Well-done drama, especially the courtroom scenes--which, in lesser hands, are hardly ever compelling. Apparently, Joe Eszterhas wrote the screenplay with Jane Fonda in mind, and I can't help but think she would have been a better fit for the lead. Where Fonda can deftly play complicated reactions and still read strong, Lange--much as I admire her--just seems hysterical/hormonal.

A well made and well played drama.
