First half is kind of nice, but when it advances ten years in time, it gets so boring and endless. Some fine acting from Meryl and a well-intentioned real-life story that just don't get proper treatment on screen. It also hasn't aged well if we think how this fits into the "white savior" narrative discussion.

I have a lot of issues with this movie, i have a lot of issues with education, since Neill's Summerhill is my favorite book. Many of these issues, & others are cleverly skirted, and this makes for a stronger picture. Many scenes are heavy handed, the ending especially, and still Meryl's genuineness shines through.
