I've only seen a couple Sammo Hung movies, but so far I haven't been very impressed with the fighting. In the past thirty years, martial arts movies have come a long way. So I would think that a 57 year old Hung fighting would be like bringing a rickshaw to a street race. While the fight sequences aren't terrible, it's Hung's gut wrenching and heart warming performance of a man losing all his memories, save one horrible one of losing his granddaughter, that makes this movie unforgettable.

Id rate this lower but it doesn't feel right to openly hate on sammo! Gosh i like him so much. But this film delivered nothing but cliche( the only original element being a whimsical cartoon telling sammos backstory...of his granddaughter vanishing and him spiralling into guilt ridden isolation and dementia...its even more incongruous than it sounds). Lau gets a good acrobatic chase & nothing else. Sammo gets 1 single fight scene...its good but then the film abruptly wraps up.

I really enjoyed this movie on multiple levels it's just too bad that the two parts of this film just didn't mesh well. The makeshift family scene were sweet and a lot of fun. The action crime parts were also quite entertaining as were all of the cameos spread throughout the film. The biggest downside was the fact that the two stories weren't balanced and the whole thing left you wanting for more action or less drama. Had they gone in either direction...

A story of an aging and run-down ex-secret-service type soldier finding redemption in his friendship with a little girl. I liked Sammo's portrayal, and Andy Lau was good, but the movie fell flat for me. Some of the artistic choices didn't jive and it wasn't able to balance the whimsical and the brutal. A lot would have been saved with more and better action, but there was very little and even Sammo's big fight was disappointing. And dang, I missed Yuen Biao's cameo!
