My Best Friend's Girl

As cliched as a gay guy working in a fashion salon. As shallow as a kiddie pool after sitting a few hours under the Gobi Desert sun. As deftly directed as you would expect from the mastermind who brought us the touching sequel to Grumpy Old Men--Grumpier Old Men. If I was a young, single woman and all I had to choose from were Dane Cook or Jason Biggs, I'd probably rip my vagina out with a rusty set of pliers and sell it to a band of gypsies for a sackful of nails and a cup of warm Tang.

I didn't even grin through the movie.. Did my best score on Bejeweled while watching.. Now you understand..

Daily Star says it best: "Crude, lewd, rude and very very very very funny."

Not a great movie, but not entirely dispensable. The end and the premise is silly as expected. But there are some very funny moments.

Yes, there's going to be a needle drop somewhere... Starts out well, especially if you are a (guilty) fan of Cook's swaggering, alpha-posturing smarminess. Winds up wavering between its heart and its head – its head wants to be a sweet natured romance (I could buy Cook and Hudson at this if the movie was sincere), but its heart is a leery and grotesque comedy; had it fully committed, it could have been much better. Some funny lines and performances help the viewer to hang in there.

I actually liked this movie, and had to applaud Dane Cook's performance. He was terrible in everything else, but here, as an asshole, it felt genuine.

Just slightly better than I expected. It's sometimes funny, most of the time enjoyable to watch. Grade: B-

a whole bunch of bland, somewhat contrived romantic-comedy, sandwiched in between a good begining and end. but the begining and ending are both good enough to keep you engaged.

Proof that not only does Dane Cook lack clever joke making ability, but also acting talent. Interesting and enjoyable at points, but just...no.

This movie was a series of Dane Cook stand up routines patched together with the regular, same old romantic comedy formula. Guy meets girl, guy realises he's in love with girl against odds, guy almost loses girl in second to last act due to something that could have been cleared up easily had he opened his mouth, and then they get together to apparently live happily ever after.

Rule of thumb: no movie about the hideous manipulations that 20 (30?)-somethings perpetrate on each other in the name of "romance" gets more than an 18 from me. Of course, this piece of crap has Dane Cook (if you'll pardon the expression) AND Kate Hudson.

I really liked it, though I might have an unhealthy thing for romantic comedies with lots of gorgeous women in them.

Romatic comedy with two douchebags, its a common formula really.

Quite stupid and not funny.

I score this one in the middle cause I'm not sure what to think of it. I thought it was hilarious. Dane Cook playing an asshole was one of the funnier things ive seen in his films. Kate Hudson is one of the hottest women ever. On the other half of the film... the plot sucked. It was all over the place. You flip flop about 6 times on who you think should get the girl. Jason Biggs who I personally thought was going to be the hero of the movie dissappears halfway through. It's just a mind wrencher.

This movie fails mainly due to a poorly constructed screenplay. Is Hudson supposed to be a giddy whore or a virtuous, high-class gal? Who knows, because the script has her tap-dancing everywhere! Don't get me wrong; there are some funny moments. But, these are overshadowed by the unbelievable premise that Hudson's character would look a second time at gross-out Tank (Dane Cook).

There are few funny moments, for the rest of the time its a no-brainer. The movie is something you wouldnt miss if you didnt see.

Marginally intesting in the beginning, but a totally lame ending. Kudos to Alec Baldwin though.

I'm glad the description lists the genre as comedy, otherwise you'd have no way of knowing - at least if laughter is any indication. When the best part of a film is the presence of Johnny Cash's, "When the Man Comes Around" on the soundtrack, something is terribly wrong. Something so wrong that even a bit part for Alec Baldwin and a scantily-clad Kate Hudson can't come close to fixing. Yikes.
