It's certainly nothing great, but the old people love is pretty adorable, and it has enough situational comedy laughs to justify its existence. John Stamos makes an appearance just to show off how Greek he is, although there's no appearance of the withered, loathsome painting he keeps in his attic.

Much warmer and genial than the shrill and abrasive Part 1, this sequel benefits from demoting Vardalos and Corbett to more passive supporting players, and giving Kazan and (especially) 90 year old Constantine the chance to shine; both actors make for a charming and sweet portrait of a long marriage, counterpointed by Kampouris' youthful romantic entanglements. Definitely sitcom-level, but rather surprisingly sweet and genuinely touching by the finale (or it caught me in a sentimental mood!)

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is likely to put you to sleep. The charm and spark of the original have long since dissipated; in their places are lazy jokes and references to the first film in hopes that your fond memories of it will make you cast a favorable glance upon this sequel. It's a rejected sitcom episode that was given a big budget, a feature-length running time, and a wide release. It wouldn't pass muster on cable; it most certainly is not worth a trip to the cinema.

Though it lacks almost any of the charm and wit of the original, it still manages a few laughs, as well as some adorable elderly love moments.

I'm sorry to say this, since I kind of liked the original, but I don't think a second Big Fat Greek film was needed. The jokes seem old and tired, since they are all in the same vein as those in the first movie, and the script seems to run out of steam half way through. Not the best.

Not a bad movie as sequels go but it's a pale imitation of the original film with most of the family being caricatures of their original roles.

not much of a romance as the first film was. This one is just a comedy

It gave me enough laughs, but it definitely wasn't as charming as its predecessor. They kind of went out of their way to make Gus really unlikeable, though I don't think that was the intent.

Moments of funny - the black clad old lady made every scene she was in - but I don't care about Toula and her husband with the creepy hair.

But just like those home movies, something special peeks through in the end. There's a love and appreciation here of family, whether big and Greek or big and some other sort. There's a reminder that making it through the ups and downs of marriage, supporting one another, raising good kids and building a life together, those things are still all well worth the effort. And that's a big fat moral to the story that you don't always get from Hollywood these days. (pluggedin.com)

Very much a “reunion movie” for fans of the original, with even less plot as it lacks the same courtship and non-Greek entering a Greek family angles. Just ninety minutes of simple, occasional light sitcom-y chuckles. But I will give it legit credit for bringing back goddamn EVERYONE from the original, like 15+ returning cast members I think, a seemingly simple thing many “reunion” movies and TV shows can’t seem to get right.

It holds the irony back everytime it wants to criticize the patriarchal traditions that rule the family, that's why it was born dated. It's just so dated.

What once bubbled up from a sincere love of Greek family has now congealed into the all-too-familiar Hollywood tale of milking a cash cow until cries for mercy. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 talks plenty about the need to change with the times. But no way does this movie buy into the concept of practice what you preach.

I laughed, it was silly stupid fun. Nothing much to it but at least I enjoyed my time. It won't stay with me and I won't go out and buy the dvd and watch it again on my own. It was just a happy sweet movie that will probably play on TNT once a month and I'll watch it sometimes and laugh.

A huge cocktail from the premium theater made the first 40 minutes pretty decent, but when the booze wore off, so did my delusion. The characters are supposed to carry over from the first film, yet they feel completely foreign and undeveloped.

Sometimes it turns out that the movies you have been avoiding for ages for whatever reason, say a title that sounds ridiculous, are in fact completely fine.
