A depressing intimate tale about a young woman coming to terms with death. I don't necessarily agree with all her actions or conclusions, but it's the path she takes that really makes this an interesting and poignant film.

If anything, it is stimulating enough to generate self-reflection for hours, or perhaps days, after seeing it. How many movies can you say do that?

I once heard that the whole point of art was to provoke thoughts. This movie - though it has some faults - achieves that.

It doesn't matter if you agree with her actions or not...at least everybody might handle such a strang situation on his own way.there is no right or wrong...that movie is so depressing and sad on one side, but I really enjoyed it...no fiction no happy end at least only the harsh reality !

Good in moments, and with some good performances in spite of some truly awful dialogue and irritating characters. I'm all for unlikeable characters in my fiction, but Anne is just an asshole and a martyr and everything she does is kind of stupid and annoying and seems to be in pursuit of making everybody else's life easy and conventional. The romanticising of the idea of shielding everyone from pain turned a decent movie into a frustration.

Well made film that really gets to you emotionally (and this is from a guy who generally doesn't like these kinds of movies). The material is dealt with in a great way and the filming and music are well done. Polley is very good here and keeps you wanting to know what will happen next. Harry playing her downtrodden mother is also good, and the kids are also good throwing in a little honest humour in at the proper times.

Thought that while it was a great performance by Polley that the movies attempted pathos were not aligned with me. Dull!

Pretentious and embarrassingly ignorant. The worst movie I've ever seen.

I felt the second half dragged, but overall a well-made film with a standout performance by Sarah Polley.

Thought-provoking and largely unsentimental look at dying young, carried by a classy cast.

Sweet and sad view of how one young woman chooses to deal with the news she is dying.

For a sad subject this movie makes a good statement. A young woman (Sarah Polley) married young, with two little girls, lives a meager life. When she learns that she will soon die from an inoperable cancer, she secretly prepares for her eminent demise. A tragic story but also thought provoking. She wanted to experience a few things before she passed. Good performances and music. Worth watching. Affecting and poignant.

Very interesting version of taking care of "things to do before i die" list. Heartwarming and sad... and makes you want to live longer

Oh, you'll cry. You'll cry, alright. What a powerful movie. Sarah Polley's central performance as a 23-year-old woman --girl?-- with terminal cancer is outstanding, devastating. This movie doesn't go for the easy tears - and that makes it all the more brutal.

The rewatchability factor is lacking, but this is a captivating, raw, troubled film. Every character has their quirks and flaws. Polley does well to convey her smorgasbord of thoughts and feelings, ups and downs. Internal struggles haven't been captured on film much better than this. Molina takes pride in making shoes from prison, Ruffalo the heartthrob, doctors should carry more candy, and no child should be left at school waiting for someone to pick them up.
