A pretty decent crime thriller set in Australia. The cast works well here, especially with Aaron Pedersen and Hugo Weaving. There's a bleak mood to many of the scenes and they feel real in the sense of mood and ambiance. Probably could have been shorter, but I get why many scenes were pivotal to giving clues as to what is happening here. That shootout scene was so good and tense, too.

Nicely filmed murder mystery with a crooked cop slant -- sounds like nothing too new, but it approaches this in a measured way and makes the details shine.

A slow burning thriller set in the Australian outback which highlights plenty of social issues. Not edge of the seat stuff but watchable nonetheless.

Like everyone else says, Mystery Road is a slow-burning thriller par excellence. Our attention is upheld mainly by the enigmatic lead character (played with a skilful subtlety by Aaron Pedersen) rather than plot twists, which the director keeps in utmost secrecy. The methodical pacing and slow character development is quite enjoyable. Like all good Westerns, it boils down to a tense and dangerous shootout. A well-directed film which leaves its own unique footprint on the landscape of your mind.

Inspires approval but not enthusiasm.

Very solid slow burn western/mystery/thriller. The ending isn't fully satisfying and it is a bit on the slow side at times, but it has a pretty strong sustained tension and mood throughout and Pedersen makes an interesting protagonist.

Indeed a slow-burning thriller. Not quite up to my taste, though.
