Helped get me into MST3K and now has helped my son as well. It's not the wittiest joke but when they're building the "interociter" all of the pieces are spread out on the floor and every time one of them takes a step they make a smashing noise. This type of silliness should be taught in schools.

Pretty funny to watch people tear a terrible movie apart. The TV show does have some better episodes (Space Mutiny anyone?) but this is still entertaining none the less. Great to watch with friends.

Sure, it's little more than a short episode of the TV series, but there's an infectious charm to the whole thing that I just love. And for some reason, I like the host segments here better than on the show.

Any given episode of the show would be just as good, if not better than this movie. It's not at all bad, it's still pretty funny, and I do love MST3K, but the affair is just so misguided.

Hit and miss live commenting on terrible movies, not always that funny, but cozy nonetheless. To my recollection, however, it seems like more of a regular episode than a movie.

As a translation of the TV show, it's okay. The film they chose didn't reach nearly the terrible heights as some of the classic episodes of the show, but Mike and the 'bots still get in some zingers.

Crow and the guys should just stick to the old school tv show. I mean the movie was just like a normal episode, which isn't particularly a bad thing. But it is just not something I would consider movie-worthy. Had the normal slapstick humor that any fan of the show grew to love, but no real storyline to follow. At least they didn't try to take themselves too seriously here by dragging it out (only 75 minutes long).

Can't help but love this movie. This Island Earth was not that bad to begin with so the riffs were extra spot on. "Oh my God! My waffle!"

Checked it, and it turns out the "This Island Earth", the film there are watching in mystery science 3000, is actually 87 min long and took 2 ½ years to make. Incredible that they managed to cut it into a convenient 40 min or so, without destroying any plot developments - which just goes to show that the film (this island earth) is unbelievably dreadful(in a funny way of course). Original and fun - see it.

It's fun, but it's really just an average episode of MST3K with almost half the movie cut out. It would definetely be a good one to introduce somebody else to this show, if nothing else.

If you can forgive that this feature is hamstrung by its limitations as an extended TV episode (with the cheesy "Dr. Wizard" wrap-arounds a more painful reminder), this is good fun, and oftimes hilarious with the running commentary fast paced and witty enough to slide past any of the gags that don't quite land (it doesn't help that EARTH isn't bad enough in the right ways for this to be as successful as it could be). Great fun, and a particular delight for anyone who revels in "bad" movies.

Never saw the show, but I have watched plenty of their Rifftrax efforts. Usually, I love them, but this was a hard film to save with commentary. It felt really long despite the short runtime. I'd say most of the Rifftrax stuff is funnier, but even if this was one of their weaker efforts it gave enough laughs to make it worth your time.

If you were a fan of the show, this is nothing new. It's not the best that the gang did, but it's definitely hysterical anyway. It's the skits that take place outside of the theater segments that are better than in the regular episodes, and they do make it worthy of being "The Movie." Meh!

As a fan of the show this is disappointing. The movie isn't very bad (though it does get pretty silly towards the end), so the riffs are slow and not very funny, and the host segments just feel completely wrong being shot on film and actual sets. Oh well. Onward to season 7.

It's about as good as any of the episodes can be, albeit with higher production values. Considering that I love this series, it's kind of one of those hit and miss episodes. It's no Space Mutiny or Soultaker -- but it's still fun to watch.

It's MST3K with slightly higher production values. What's not to love? This is a movie where you can pretty much see the studio fingerprints all over it and t seems to be missing huge chunks. It overall somehow ended up shorter than a normal episode for fucks sake.

Hilarious commentary as usual (the obscure references kept to a relative minimum this time around) and the robots look so neat and shiny! This is a perfect introduction to the series for newcomers, and if you're a long-time fan and haven't seen it yet, then what are you waiting for?

While This Island Earth is sort of an odd choice for the crew to riff on (not exactly the worst movie out there), they pull it off with near perfection. You can tell the creators really gave this their all and stuffed in as many great lines into 90 minutes as humanly possible. One of the better MST3Ks out there.

As an episode of the TV series, The Movie is below average. Which is to say it's still hilarious, but crippled somewhat by the slow pacing of the riffs. As I understand it, The Movie was heavily scrutinized by the publisher and suffers for it; its running time is shorter than any regular episode of the series. I will occasionally re-watch it, but The Movie is never what I'd use to introduce MST3K to somebody.
