Really insane, occasionally side-splittingly funny (Guitar Brother, Homeroom) and quite inspired , but also gets pretty tedious at times (most of the Notti and Takefumi segments, especially the dreams). It definitely gets some points for creativity, but "weird for the sake of being weird" leads to some of its more expendable moments.

A very clear example of a movie being drunk. Rambling, incoherent Japanese nonsense, with scenes of great absurdity, scenes of deadpan comedy, and scenes of Japanese girls talking about nothing of interest. So incredibly scattershot I don't know what to do with it. Unsurprisingly, it's most enjoyable when weird shit is happening, and it gets pretty weird sometimes, which is a definite plus. Could have been a lot shorter, though. 150 minutes is steep. Still, at its best it's very fun.

No idea what I just saw. A bit tedious at times, but the sheer absurdity made up for it.

Has some of the most ridiculously great scenes ever shot, but doesn't work out as a film.

It's a 10 ok? "Oh well it would have been perfect if only this was different or that was different.." Fwok that. It's a 10.

At first I thought this was going to be a movie I'd LOVE. Very unpredictable, very stylish, very fresh and for the most part very funny. But I got turned off when things got all Cronenbergian with the grotesqueries and such. That's just not my bag. And parts of it were either too self-consciously random or too repetitive. But I really did like most of it, and if I could trim out about 20-30 minutes it might be one of my favorites.

A bit long and slow, but works well in small pieces, too.

Lots of funny 'skits' throughout the movie, but it never really amounted to much more than that. Weird, bizarre, strange, funny, wtf don't come close to explaining this movie.
