National Theatre Live: King Lear
Two ageing fathers - one a King, one his courtier - reject the children who truly love them. Their blindness unleashes a tornado of pitiless ambition and treachery - and their worlds crumble. Tender, violent, moving and shocking, King Lear is considered by many to be the greatest tragedy ever written. This will be an explosive, charged and contemporary retelling of Shakespeare's epic masterpiece in the intimate setting of the Minerva Theatre. (imdb)

This version of the play failed to grab me, and the actress playing Regan was insanely obnoxious. But that Ian McKellen guy has potential, so I'll be keeping my eye on him.

4 hours. I couldn't wait for it to end. My mind wandered so much sometimes I missed entire scenes. Kept thinking "What else is on?" Oh, I'm in a movie theatre. So only this. For another 3 hours. Yay. I studied 3 of his plays in high school, and remember liking "Macbeth". But, sorry Shakes, this is the last I'll ever see of you. Parting ain't sorrow at all. More like relief.
