Danish anti-war film coming out at the dawn of the Great War. Whats this films strong point is the acting coming across sincere showing the people feeling about war and the suffering it causes. Especially the lady who has already lost one husband to war and worries herself to death about the second. Director Holger-Madsen adds a few battle scenes to spice up the drama, these are a little basic and don't always work, but at least it gives the movie a break from the melodramatic presentation.
