This is a fairly standard Keaton short, nothing very spectacular, however, it is very representative of classic Keaton.

Some early comedy from Keaton. The plot is mostly an excuse for people to be comedically terrible to each other, though it lacks the memorably crazy stunts of his later works and relies more on simpler physical comedy.

Lots of inventive sliding.

Great physical stunts and comedy but the story was quite meandering, uneven and very disjointed.

The gags are great as Keaton tries to outwit his parents and the parents of the girl next door who he is in love with. They flow in an excellent sequence of impressive stunts and acrobatics, with a lovely running gag of innocent bystanders getting blamed for Keaton's destructive antics. That it reaches its conclusion over chaos erupting from something so simple as Keaton not being able to keep his pants up (due to broken suspenders) is bliss.

Really fun Keaton short. It's not a laugh riot but does have plenty of funny moments filled out with a sweet romance.

I'm amazed at some of the things they managed to pull off in this film, considering it's 1920. It's sorta funny, I guess, but honestly, 90 years later, this film is really dated.

Vizinhos Vigilantes estreava há 100 anos em Buffalo. O lance com os policiais deixa a primeira parte desse curta bem chapliniano, mas os stunts da segunda é puro Keaton. Box Obras-primas do Cinema Buster Keaton.

Impressive physicality, fast paced narrative and just hilarious gags & situations. Not very original or clever but brilliantly executed.

Keaton's two-reelers are normally not funny but the racist humor in this one really puts it over the top

people go on about the black(andwhite)face sequence, which seems to me fairly 'progressive' (and ingenious) in its criticism of racial profiling. if anything the pram scene, playing a black family's fear of what they mistake to be a ghost (yeah, it's a KKK reference) for laughs, is probably more insensitive, but there's nothing malicious in it. the reason this gets marked down is the final act with its interminable pants gag, which is pretty generic and lowbrow by keaton's standards.

This one has some good gags in it. In particular the balancing act with three men stacked high and walking between the buildings.

Pretty good, with some of Keaton's better gags - and lots of them.

The stunts are up to Keaton's always impressive standards, but much of the rest is heavy on weak, overdrawn material (the whole accidental blackface sequence, the falling pants gag, etc.), and the overall flow of things feels uneven and disjointed as a result. It's not bad, but it's the kind of picture that makes you want to just skip to the good parts if you rewatch it.

A very fast-paced romp with lots of big, very impressively choreographed gags. Keaton really shows off his physicality here. A very fun little short.

The long police sequence with the see-saw board was a little tiring, and the love interest disappeared for a huge chunk of this short, so I wouldn't rate this as one of Keaton's best. Favorite moment: rising out of the wagon like a ghost (or like the Great Pumpkin).
