Nekrotronic

I had a lot of fun with this one. The effects are really well done and the film is exciting and well paced. Monica Bellucci makes for a pretty good villain too. Some of the world building is a bit wonky, but I can forgive the film because it is so much fun.

Entertaining sci-fi/horror mashup, through an Edgar Wright lens, starts very well, with O'Toole and Savea a well-matched team and a close to perfect balance of wacky comedy and horror from Roache-Turner's steady hand to keep things interesting. Loses its spark and becomes more familiar at the mid-point, becoming a more standard action film, with some awkward exposition inserted to cater to hurried "world building". Still an effective taster to be curious as to what comes next from Roache-Turner.

If you put "Ghostbusters" in the internet age, gave it a low budget and leads who weren't comedic veterans, then you get "Nekrotronic". Interestingly enough, that's still a pretty entertaining movie. I can't quite explain why, but New Zealanders have a strong track record for putting out some hooting, hollering, fun genre flicks.

Never thought I would watch an Australian comedy science-fiction horror film featuring Monica Bellucci as a super-villain. But here it is, and it's pretty bloody funny.

Weirdo techy fantasy action mash-up that wears its many inspirations on its sleeve (Ghostbusters, Matrix, etc) but is entertaining and original in its own right. Also as is tradition, it is very silly and a little prone to exposition dumping, but with its tongue wedged firmly in cheek such that you don't mind too much. Fun turns from the likeable cast and well done special FX for an indie budget.

Looks like a recruiting exercise to get into the MCU Team.

Gantz influenced. Almost awesome.
