Kyoshiro finally gets a bit of character depth, as his actions in this movie are driven purely by remorse for having indirectly caused a woman's death (she commits suicide after one of his typically cynical barbs). His attempts to safeguard a child are complicated by the sister of a mercenary killed by Kyoshiro in an earlier film, who is tracking him to get her revenge. The action is frequent, excellently filmed, and (for the first time in the series) soaked in blood. A fun samurai action flick.

This is the best of the series that I've seen so far. Kyoshiro has a purpose and the other characters are relatively well rounded. There is a lot of fighting and a lot of double crossing which kept things moving.
