Neon Maniacs

For such an ill conceived rush job this has production values well past its budget, great score, solid acting and fairly good scripting. Admittedly its approach is scatter shot with out much forethought but each scene taken individually is well executed. Unfortunately for these excellent scenes they don't come together as a whole. Best for those looking for a little more 80's still left to be uncovered. Recommended Rental.

For reasons that remain entirely unexplained, an expanded zombie lineup of The Village People occasionally emerges from under a bridge to slaughter people, as long as it isn't raining. There are plenty of genre tropes to enjoy, such as curiously old-looking teens and inept police, coupled with a bizarre muzak score. Definitely a victim of budget problems; it seems to be missing an ending, but has flashes of competence. It's a bit tame and shambolic, but could be fun if you're in the mood.

Quite fun monster film, but they kinda forgot to shoot the ending.

The Garbage Pail Kids grew up, and they're angry. End is like a retarded No Country for Old Men. Seriously, it's amazing.

While I found it ultimately disappointing, it was a nice attempt at being different. The movie had nice costumes,make up and some humor. But it was too uneven. I'm not sure the film makers truly decided what type of movie this was going to be. I disliked the music that was used for background music and I really disliked the live music scenes. The background music was largely responsible for giving the mixed messages about what type of "feel" a scene was supposed to have.

This movie doesn't have an ending. There's a lot of wrong that drags it down, but that's the real kicker. The first act where all the expected slasher characters get murdered in one fell swoop was neat, but nothing happens after that to keep things interesting. The Maniacs are goofy, vaguely racist, dull villains & their origins are never so much as kind of explained. Paper-thin characters, clumsy editing, poor plotting. All the potential in the world is there, but it's entirely wasted. Meh.
