Full of awful cliche's and totally predictable. If you like this sort of forced romantic slop the you'll love this. However of you want to watch a film with and semblance of originality, wit or humour, or even a film where the ending cannot be predicted after the first 5 minutes then you'd best give this crap a swerve. Also Renee really needs to get down McD's and get herself some Big Macs, because she's looking a tad on the thin side!

It's not exactly painful to watch but it is just...blah?

Utterly predictable and terribly written and directed, though surprisingly watchable. Poor Zellweger. Her acting chops deserve much, much better.

Not a disaster, but not really worth watching either

"Like the odious stepchild of Fargo, New in Town gleefully offers up citizens of rural, snowbound New Ulm, Minnesota as a collection of funny-speaking, Jesus-loving, tapioca-making misfits deserving of nothing less than outright mockery." - Nick Schager

Rarely has Hollywood populism been so transparent.

Typical fish-out-of-water story that, as far as I know, went straight to video, with typical northern mid-west stereotypes. Still, not without entertainment value. Of course, I watched this right after, "My Best Friend's Girl" so just about anything would have been an improvement.

One of many burdensome tasks required of the viewer of this fish-out-of-water love story. The toughest of all: caring about any of the characters in this smug, check-off-the-boxes comedy.

Mildly amusing rom-com that relies heavily on Zellweger's acting skills. I'd rather see this than cartoon-violence, though.

Managed to hook me on a free to air broadcast on a sleepy Friday night, but then offered nothing more than passing the time. Best avoided.

New in Town--lightweight romcom though it may be--is brave enough to at least acknowledge that faith, for many people, is important. It's not preachy. Indeed, it is often (uncomfortably) irreverent. But it does show faith as a part of daily life--both as a foundation for who you are and a propulsion system for who you want to be. And there's something to be said for that, donchaknow (pluggedin.com)

Watchable, despite a host of pretty clunky scenes. Zellweger is pretty one-note and the chemistry with Connick Jr is a flop. But the bonding with the rural community and salvation of their jobs is a decent driving force behind the story. How did J.K. Simmons go from this to Whiplash?

Movie’s dumb but not offensively so. Somehow it’s the poster I find offensive. Because it looks like Newtown, CT. Can someone talk to their marketing people? I know it came out before the tragedy but still
