Night Owls

There are a lot of laugh out loud scenes here but some of it drags on way too long especially once they get in the house.

This may not be one of the team's best, but I laughed like a fool. Compared to what passes for comedy today, the least of Laurel and Hardy looks brilliant. The new DVD "Laurel and Hardy Essential Collection" also includes the Spanish-language version of the film, which is a full reel longer and has a completely different ending! Unfortunately, it's slower and nowhere near as funny.

Classic.

The amount of the overall stupidity is too much for a film of this length.

A string of unsolved robberies puts the local beat cop in hot water with the police chief. When he finds Laurel and Hardy sleeping in the park, he threatens to arrest them unless they help him by breaking into the chief's house and letting him catch them. He says he'll fix it so they don't do any jail time. The bulk of this 20 minute short is devoted to physical slapstick as Laurel and Hardy repeatedly try to break into the house without waking anyone.
