I watched this because of the great cast. When I saw in the opening credits that it was based on a Nicholas Sparks novel, I knew it would suck. And it did. Sparks is one of the worst writers ever. A true hack.

Boring as can be. The predictability just adds to the things wrong with this sad attempt at a romance movie. Grade: D

Two excellent actors delivering decent performances from a script made for the puke bucket. Cliche upon cliche drowns this one.

And the moral of the story is that all this is OK because it's what makes Adrienne happy. Being married to Jack doesn't make her happy. Being with Paul does. So she ends her marriage and asks her kids to trust that she's made the best decision possible. Swept up in the emotion of her affair, we're asked to agree with her. (pluggedin.com)

Good not great. Kinda sad though. It was cool to see Ann from Arrested Development again. "She puts eggs and mayo in her mouth. She calls it a may-and-egg."

"There's little room for genuine emotion in this turgid romantic fantasy adapted from a novel by slop-meister Nicholas Sparks." - Nick Schager

In every film you come to the point where it's done then usually it takes about two or three minutes to wrap up. (30 Minutes for the third of Lord of the Rings). But this film wrapping up for an hour. I really get the feeling the director didn't know what he wanted to do with the film or where he wanted to end with it.

The movie is worth seeing just for Diane Lane. She has a lot of on-screen magic and her pairing with Richard Gere works well here. A good date movie.

While going through this Nicholas Sparks marathon, this is one of the few films of his I'd never bothered watching before, and apparently for good reason. I didn't care about these characters. More specifically, I've never cared that much for Richard Gere and I didn't think the two actors had that much of a good chemistry. PLUS, the subplot where Diane Lane is trying to decide who to pick...what's the point? Do you even see the characters on the front cover....oy vey.
