Nightwish

Some interesting ideas and the special effects for the gore are impressive but it's too tedious throughout. Barely kept my attention despite occasionally shocking me. A lot like my love life in that regard.

That special type of schlock where you have absolutely no idea what's going on bit you're glad to be there. Ooey and gooey. Brian Thompson is a black hole of charisma it's astounding. The janitor got done so fucking dirty I howled.

Spends the majority of it's time fiddling with a mish-mash of ideas gelling under and umbrella of dreams, and honestly, it's about as cohesive as a dream. Imagine if the dream portions of "Dream Warriors" were stretched to an hour and a half and you replace Freddie with generic horror bad guys: aliens, ghosts, demons. Despite how little this movie makes sense, it still had some decent scenes and effects and two crazy hot girls.

There's a really neat idea at the heart of this, but it's just pretty clear writer/director Cook didn't know how to make the most out of it. While the effects work & solid performances from a cast of genre-film vets make it watchable, the script is among the messiest I've ever seen & is littered with atrocious dialogue, flat characters, clunky pacing, & a finale that tries to justify the mostly nonsense plot in one of the cheapest ways possible. It has good bits, but feels rushed & unfinished.
