Reminds me of old Jackie Chan movies - good blend of cheesy plot and frenetic action.

What if DEATH WISH was a ninja? What starts out as a blatant pander to a vigilante film set-up (newlywed AND pregnant? Whoo boy, bar up the windows...) actually promises some mindless fun, until the screenplay kicks in and you realise how truly mindless (and tedious) the film really is -- the action scenes are fairly clunky and repetitive and the padding in-between is nonsensical and overly convoluted; the final 'twist' is almost laughably ludicrous.

The best parts of this movie are well choreographed hand to hand fighting. The story is dark, overly convoluted & twisted, especially at the end. Everything between the fights became tedious. Scott Adkins was OK but not very charismatic. The enemies barbed-wire weapon & much of the dialog was pretty lame. Music was heavy but well done. Sound effects were also good. Great foreign locations & sets. Good camera work. The big plot reveal at the end was a contradiction, so it made little to no sense.

Since no viewer will choose this film for its acting I will let that lie and move on: the unarmed fight choreography was excellent, if a little repetitive. Scott Adkins impressed me.

When someone tells his pregnant wife he loves her he is giving her a death sentence - damn you Scott Adkins. Oh and who the hell is Scott Adkins?

Way darker than the first film, but still amazing in terms of editing and camera placement. Now Casey is a loner struggling with his pregnant wife's death and wants revenge at all cost. This plot doesn't make the film grim enough to take it seriously, but the fight scenes still stand out. Ninja II gives what most sequels don't dare to deliver: action scenes framed in long shots that feel both cinematic and realistic.

The plot is as cookie cutter as they come but you're not watching for that right? The fight scenes are very fun and there's some great weapons based combat in there.

While I find that Scott Adkins can't hold a movie on his own, I still enjoy watching him do his thing. Pretty good fight scenes, maybe a little too staged and it would've helped if the people he hit stayed down and seemed to get hurt. If anything the story is darker but actually not as good or entertaining as the first.

Strong fight scenes with lots of fast, fluid moves in various styles, and a hefty quantity of bad guys hitting the floor with a crunch, in the tradition of the best Asian actioners. Everything else in this movie is completely below average and forgettable though. The story is textbook and unimaginative. Scott Adkins doesn't seem to have the charisma to become a bona fide action star, although the script does him no favours.

Featherweight clichéd plot but some pretty cool fight scenes. It's kind of like Commando but with ninjas. The twist at the end is absurd, but hey, whatever you gotta do to get another fight scene in. One of those movies that's eminently watchable.
