It's a pretty straight forward low budget action flick with a dash of ninja flavor...it was seriously lacking in cool ninja action until pretty much the last fight. Most of the fights are generic kung fu in a modern urban setting, peaking halfway through with a sweet battle on a subway train. The only ninja is the main bad guy, and he's a super high tech ninja with night vision goggles and a bat cape. Lame. Forgettable stuff with weak acting but some solid no frills fighting.

I love Ninjas. I think they are really cool. This movie on the other hand was not very good. I'll say that the action sequences were really cool. The equipment used was cool and some of the deaths were really neat. The acting on the other hand was very, very bad. The writing was even worse. I really didn't care about any of the characters and the two main characters had no chemistry. This movie also makes women look really weak. The girl was a good fighter at the dojo but sucks in a real f

Great violent fights not much else. Average acting, and story barely hold it all together.

The object of interest pursued by the 2 opposing main characters isn't that interesting at all to justify their life-and-death struggle. It's therefore unbelievable. The flick is quite entertaining though. MY SCORING: 99-96=Great; 95-90=Very good; 89-85=Good; 84-80=So-so; 79-70=Boring; 69-1=Forget it

Even if the fights hadn't been video-gamey shite the "plot" would have been a fucking chore, pure drivel.

Bad, but in a way that still kind of satisfies whatever B-movie urge you probably had if you watched it in the first place. The worst parts are the central MacGuffin - a box full of feudal ninja weaponry everyone wants despite the fact that a plain old gun trumps all of it - and a general air of sexism, with the main female being shown in early scenes to be a competent martial artist then promptly screaming and turning into a weak-kneed damsel in distress later on.

This is ultraviolence at its very best. Florentine takes his action set-pieces so seriously that he makes sure they are properly shot -- a expressionistic fight under heavy rain, a slow-paced fight at the subway, and a final encounter filled with both classic martial arts film skills and today's urge for videogame-like, slasher-esque blood.

I knew from the first two minutes of this movie that I would hate it. The characters were not only forgettable, but they weren't even likable. Plot was choppy, dialogue was soap opera-esque, acting was bad and the chemistry between actors was nonexistent. The martial arts parts weren't even entertaining to watch. All around a disappointing movie.

Great action, and a fun film.

Like so many martial arts films, it straddles the line between good action, enjoyably bad performances, and an agonizing use of cliches, most of which aren't even enjoyable. The white savior, the female fighter who for some reason always needs rescuing, the villain who turns against his master, the death of said master, etc. The sad thing is, Ninja adds nothing new. The fights range in quality from B- to D+, and it's very easy to lose focus and wish you were watching something else.

Good action, great Scott Adkins fights but bland script and awful music make this a lesser Scott Adkins vehicle. I don't necessarily understand how the sequel with the same director stands head and shoulders above this film. Watch Ninja II or Scott's "Accident Man" for some much needed comedy.

Fine combination of a lousy script, mediocre acting and some really good fights.

Honestly? Who gives money for this kind of "movies". Waste of time and nerves. 19 points for the word "Ninja" in title plus some nice slowdowns and speedups during fights. Beside mentioned things, so common, so lacking of any emotions, so bad acted and so screwed up in the name of plot, that it is hard to even think of it. Fortunately it was a copy on my hard drive, what means...yes, 1,5GB of free space that I just gained. Leave it, unless You (like me) must see something before You delete it.
