No Escape

This title is extremely misleading....there were at least 5 escapes. Should have been called, "The Many Escapes of Broken Nose McGee". Much better title and more representative of what's happening in the film. Now move over Hollywood...your new marketing guru has arrived.

Owen Wilson throws two girls off of a roof in slow motion. This is merely a note to me for later on in the year when I go over the films of 2015 because there is no way any of this will be remembered.

Do you want to see a movie that treats the Asian citizens of a country it can't be bothered to name like savage zombies whose lives matter significantly less than bland white tourists who are in part responsible for the problems that the locals face, just as long as there are some thrills along the way? Because all of this is in the film, it's impossible - at least for me - to separate the two. No Escape is technically proficient and does have some thrills within it, but it's also really gross.

Spoiler alert: Worth it for the scene where Owen Wilson throws his daughters off of a building in slow motion. Also worth it for the scene where Pierce Brosnan sacrifices his life for the good of all non-Asian humanity via getting run over by a truck.

No Escape was exactly what I expected it to be, harmlessly watchable but completely ordinary and forgettable. Overall I was entertained and to be fare once the action is in motion the pace never slows down. But the frantic pacing is just a camouflage for the flurry of issues with this dated and xenophobic action film. The dashes of humour in particular feel misplaced, as does Owen Wilson who is oddly cast. However Pierce Brosnan is certainly in his comfort zone but he is criminally underused.

I enjoyed my time but it was inconsistent. It had some really stupid scenes like the rooftop jumping, humour where it shouldn't have, and wonky dialogue, along with a terrible ending, but the cast did a decent job and it's shot pretty well. It could have explored its subject matter more and been better, but it's still a relatively entertaining thriller.

A largely forgettable incarnation of that whole Die Hard formula. Not as bad as I had anticipated. At least there was some good tearful scared acting.

Hilariously racist.

It has some good tension and some intense scenes, but it ultimately doesn't become a powerful film. It never feels the need to even completely explain everyone's part in why this is all taking or place or for that matter where it is taking place. The actors do a good job with the emotions they need to express, but it's nothing but an intense action drama that put them in peril. It will never be considered a classic or a film that even made a point in trying to show a difference in cultures

Pretty much non-stop tension but with the occasional suspension of belief situations, re: the roof hopping. Then there's its world view that the West is the cause of all strife. And, BTW, Vietnam is a country of heroes.

Riveting movie. Heart-pounding action. I've never really liked Pierce Brosnan that much, but he does a great job in this movie. His best role for me. Owen Wilson seems like the same guy as in most of his other movies, but now in a much more intense life-threatening situation. He rises to the occasion.

An enjoyable, if eye-rollingly unlikely, suspense thriller. Brosnan's character was particularly entertaining.

This film is too much unapologetic insanity not to enjoy.

It hints at some interesting visual direction, offers a good serving of action, and gives Pierce Brosnan a solid role as a "British CIA Agent, or something like that". However, the script needed a lot of work, on both the dialog and the whiplash it creates with its emotional dissonance. Ex. A) Too much comedy in a situation that doesn't call for it. B) "Turn back. You may not enter Vietnam. They have entered Vietnam. Put down your weapons." That's the titular escape. Hey, the title's inaccurate!

really intense and not so much "enjoyable" Will not be easily forgotten.

This movie turns silly early on. Having the American heroes be trapped and pursued by countless bloodthirsty foreigners is essentially a politically incorrect rehash of the zombie genre. Putting that aside, the potential for a taut action thriller is there, but repeatedly thwarted by the 2 kids and family problems. The exotic setting almost but doesn't quite redeem this. And Pierce Brosnan shouldn't be on the poster at all, unless you think your movie is weak and won't sell enough tickets...

It seemed like a really bad movie with snippets of a really good movie thrown in randomly.

Better than I expected. Decent action and some pretty good individual scenes.

This was actually better than I expected. Great tempo and a somewhat thrilling story. I am always sceptic when Wilson is playing a serious role, but he didn't ruin it, and at the same time, Bell and Brosnan heightened the overall experience. *Okay

Most thrilling movie watched took now

Despite a couple of pretty good scenes and a fun performance by Pierce Brosnan, this is pretty much skippable. Tinged with some rather unfortunate xenophobic undertones, it's yet another movie where the main characters are the main characters solely on the basis of them being attractive, upper-middle class white folks. That's pretty much the only reason the movie gives you for rooting for them, as there's almost nothing else to Owen Wilson here (which, by the way, who made THAT casting choice?).

No Escape offers up plenty of thrills, moderate tension and questionable CGI. While the plot is nothing speacial, the film is watchable, in part due to Bell, Wilson and especially Brosnan; who for argument's sake has reprised his role as Bond. Regarding the setting and kill-count concerning the natives, the film does feel undeniably antiquated, even though western/corporate interests are ultimately held culpable. On a side note, those kids were bloody annoying.

Much better than I thought prior watching. NE is quite gripping and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Recommended watch.

Like us, they're no action heroes. They're certainly courageous and resourceful. But they're not trained to defend themselves against mobs of rabid killers. They don't pack assault rifles with extra clips. They're just packing a pair of shell-shocked young girls and trying to find some way out of the hell around them. They're willing go to any length, leap any chasm to shield their loved ones, even if they have to do it with little more than their own lacerated flesh. (pluggedin.com)

No Escape is mostly of run of the mill and unispired. It doesn't do anything of importance, however watching Wilson try a different role is certainly entertaining, and for the most part he was competent, and with a pace that doesn't really stop at any point, it's hard to be really bored at any point. You'll find yourself rooting for them, and Brosnan pretty much being James Bond adds a little punch. However, it's not something you haven't seen before, and in the end is just eye candy

Once the action kicks off, it stays admirably non-stop for the remainder of the running time. Did its job as bloody, vaguely ethnically offensive entertainment. Doesn't hurt that Pierce Brosnan all but plays James Bond.

It makes for a somewhat interesting drama, and seeing Wilson stretch his range was better than expected; it still amounts to a whole lot of nothing.

This story was so unlikely and it would be much more reliable if it took place in a mid-east country. Thanks to good performances from Wilson and his kids this was a pretty entertaining movie. The excitement was top notch.. very high intensity all the way.

Fun action movie. Reminded me a lot of an early 90's thriller. Had a bunch of great actors from the 90's and 00's like Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan (playing a character that could have been James Bond). It was really refreshing to see this style movie again.

Owen Wilson and family continually running from Thailand-ish revolutionists with a former James Bond conveniently coming to the rescue. Okay fun, but No Escape (2015) is a very ordinary action flick which serves no other purpose then to bring some forgettable action for 100 minutes or so.

This movie sat on my watchlist for 5 yrs and I finally got around to giving it a go. Whoda thunk Owen Wilson in a solid high octane thriller? Well acted, but a bit of a thin plot as explained by other reviews. Some folks have an issue w the xenophobia, but are digging in too deep. If you want to watch a family try to survive against rough odds for 95 minutes you could do worse. Just shy of the 7.5 needed to bump me to an 8. 7.4 overall for a better than expected action thriller.

Thrilling and entertaining. You have to suspend some disbelief though. Not unlike 'Judgment Night'.
