. So, the first act was unique in that they replaced character development with brief glib descriptions of character and non-nude sex. The second act could only have been weaker if it was gang raped. And the third act couldn't have been more predictable if it were an episode of House. 5 points for the percent of the movie that was funny and 35 for me getting turned on by Natalie Portman crying while shoving donut holes into her face.

2011's answer to "Going The Distance" for me; a rom-com that I didn't expect to like all that much (due to my majority distaste for Ashton Kutcher), but that I ended up really enjoying. The character of Adam that Kutcher plays is really genuine and one worth investing in. And Natalie is just so fantastic, in each and every scene. Sure it's formulaic, sure it's predictable, sure it's all kinds of cliched and expected. But sometimes, I guess that's okay. No love for rom-coms? You're missing out.

Wow that movie was amazing! I laughed so hard I missed a few jokes! The dialogue was incredible it was witty and hilariously awkward at the same time. Most movies that do awkward comedy just make you feel awkward; this movie made you laugh! I usually only recommend going to theaters for action (yes, I love romance but the big screen is over kill) but go to this one as quickly as you can!

You know what? Fuck Rottentomatoes... this movie is a lot better than it's getting credit for. Their chemistry is good, it's funny, the romance feels genuine. So it gets the romance and comedy down in a rom-com. I think that's a success. Plus, Natalie Portman is amazing... just as a person, as an actress. I'm surprised I like this as much as I do, but I do love it.

I liked "No Strings Attached", probably more than I rightfully should. Regardless, I did enjoy it, and I had a good time while watching it. The characters were likable, the plot, while predictable, was fun to watch, and the film was on the whole pretty funny. It doesn't do anything new to the romantic comedy genre, but it's an entertaining film that will give you a good time at the theatre, and that's really all you can ask for.

I'm willing to give 'No Strings Attached' a bit of a break. It's definitely not groundbreaking in the realm of romantic comedy, but for a flick that doesn't even attempt to stray from the formula, it's still pretty enjoyable. The characters remain pretty genuine with one another, with the exception of a line from Adam at the climax (pun intended). Everyone more or less serves their purpose in getting things moving towards the obvious ending. What's important here is that it's fun getting there.

Halts at first but shifts gears fairly early and is enjoyable for the remainder of the time. Hoped it would do something interesting with the "sex buddies" setup, but no luck; It's an exercise in showing how dumb you are for thinking a rom-com might do something original. Regardless, no huge flaws, it's enjoyable, genuine and well put-together. Good cast & chemistry and it's clearly written by someone with a brain. Though Kutcher has one line towards the end which is far too over-the-top cheesy.

Why yes, Part II in a series of movies I watched for/with my girlfriend. To see Portman (who I'm not a huge fan of, but still) slumming it here with the likes of Kutcher in this brain dead shambles is nonetheless pretty jarring. Both of their characters are unsympatheticly reprehensible, although for Kutcher, I have to admit...spot-on casting. Mindy Kaling and Greta Gerwig are completely wasted, although Gerwig gets off the movie's best line (by far), "It's like a crime scene in my pants!"

The heart of this film is good, and while the premise is built around a pillar that most anyone with a brain knows will fail, and in turn knows where this plot is headed... the problem is the lack of understanding of the reality of how this would turn out? True love? No.

The plot of this romantic comedy is somewhat transparent, but there were excellent performances from Natalie Portman and Aston Kutcher. Also, Kevin Kline was oddly enjoyable. The script was generally good but Natalie's character sometimes felt unrealistic. It was beautifully filmed, and has good music. They reversed the usual dynamic between men and women and made Portman's character sort of a female chauvinist. Kutcher was steady and confident. Despite its flaws I enjoyed this movie.

No Strings Attached is predictable and worse, unfunny. Okay, that's not entirely true. Kline, Kaling, Lovibond, Bell, Johnson and even Ludacris weren't terrible, and gave me an occasional chuckle; but they're all supporting characters. The main characters' narrative is just dull, and neither Kutcher nor Portman's performance help to it move along.

In a weird Volcano/Dante's Peak scenario, No Strings Attached came out at nearly the same time as the Justin Timberlake & Mila Kunis film Friends With Benefits. Both films attempted to make a statement about casual sex and modern dating, but both came off as just standard and generic rom-com fare. The only thing that gave Friends With Benefits the edge is the chemistry between the two leads. I don't buy the relationship between Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher whatsoever.

Just a quick note to Natalie to start: Just because you won an Oscar does not mean you need to make shit like this and "Your Highness"!! Seriously, the first 20 minutes of this movie are just a disjointed mess. I don't understand the very weak connection between the characters and why they suddenly bone not to mention the fact that their characters are barely likable. It has a couple funny moments, but nowhere near enough to save it.

It was strange that this movie came out the same year as "Friends With Benefits". Since the plot lines of the movies are generally the same. Instead of both people being messed up in FWB, No Strings Attached focuses on Natalie Portman and how she just won't commit to any type of love. There are some really funny parts in this especially from Ludacris. The story is pretty tender at the end. There's a lot of good moments, it's just not as good as Friends With Benefits. But it's really not bad.

There are so many bad jokes -- Ludacris' appearances are absolutely shameful -- and uninspired moments here that this is actually barely watchable. Kutcher doesn't convince as this guy-acting-like-a-romantic-girl. But Portman, insensitive as hell, delivers.

The idea that we would all be happy with a rom-com that strays too far from the "formula" is ridiculous. there are very few films that stray from their own formula. This was spot on as a Rom-Com: a really engaging film, likeable characters, great script, well acted, goofy, funny, and the key thing that tests a romantic comedy - the romance was believeable and heartwarming. I throroughly enjoyed N.S.A. Dont go into this looking for Citizen Kane, go into this to watch a really GOOD Rom-Com.

The story was a combination of Jeff Bridges and Barbara Streisand in The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996), where they decided to skip the feelings and kept it sex only, and Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal in Love and Other Drugs (2010), which was loaded with nudity. Except Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher did not have THAT much or level of nudity. Anyway, the result was boring since it was draging time after time. Even Kevin Kline did not spice the story.

Where Friends with Benefits was Smart, Witty and Relevant, No Strings Attached was at times stupid, uptight and misguided. The Dialogue and back and forth between Portman and Kutcher seemed more of a stretch then real. They just never seemed to hit it off, there were never any sparks. The film never draws on emotions because there is too much going on. Very bad use of support characters.

Portman does her best as the "guy" in the relationship in this otherwise mediocre film. I could do without ever seeing Kutcher again, he just looks and sounds so stupid to me. When most of us see Ashton Kutcher we're thinking slapstick; and although this is certainly a romantic comedy (I was laughing so hard I missed every other joke!) This is a powerful and moving dialog centric drama. This is the film critics ought to be jumping on, but critics are idiots so screw them. Natalie Portman is obviously a much better actor than Ashton Kutcher (not obvious in this film, but in their wider careers in general), but her character is actually the problem here. "I don't believe in love" is such lazy shorthand for characterization, the exact same they used for Anne Hathaway in Love and Other Drugs, and I hate it. I had a few chuckles and I liked Greta Gerwig and Mindy Kaling as Portman's friends, but by the time the credits rolled I was incredibly bored.

It doesn't help that this came out the same year as Friends with Benefits, which by itself is not even good. The problem is that Portman is less charismatic than Kunis and Ashton Kutcher couldn't act his way out of a paper bag much less match Justin Timberlake, a boy-band musician and occasional SNL sketch performer, as the male lead in a rom-com.
