Michael Curtiz attempts a variation of D.W. Griffith's Intolerance (1916) trying to make parallels between the modern times of World War 1 and the Bible story of Noah. The similarities are very vague and the story halts because of it. The plot feels like just a device for the special effects to come. The great flood from the religious book! And it really is a spectacular grand finale with water drowning the sets and the people with it! No expense spared! The story lacks structure to elevate it.
