Considered to be Finland's first horror movie, this film is more a social drama with psychological undertones. That doesn't mean it's not creepy. The creep is Paksu-Sakari and later on his bastard son, which gives us that disgusting feeling. There is a story of superstition as the women in the family believes they are cursed and some of the horror elements is connected with that. Naturally the man of the film is not that foolish, but he always has a sense of worry that something is very wrong.
