Pretty good as an overall dramatic period action film. The best parts are the action scenes and the great locations. The biggest issue is the rather generic script and fairly weak character development, it's definitely worth a view though.

This historical epic has a few things going for it, including charismatic leads, particularly an intense Mark Dacascos; some lovely landscape cinematography, and an inspired bit of horsemanship. However, its large battle scenes are incompetently staged but unfortunately well-shot and all the energy drains out of the film once the main love story ends - between the two brothers-in-all-but-blood. After that, the demands of genre step in and characters revert to types and start reciting triteness.
