The best way to describe Wild Jumbo is like 70 minutes in Grand Theft Auto - you drive around for no reason for a bit, maybe kidnap a side character, take a side mission (find guns) and then try your hand at a main mission, which is too hard and there are too many cops so you fail miserably and have to start the game over, in this case, with a third movie.

Everything is all over the place and more importantly, kinda boring. Fails to capture the feel and energy of the original and throws in an appalling morality story in the final 15 minutes. Meiko sings a song but just kinda hangs there for the rest of the film. The pop aesthetics this time feel kinda forced and uninspired. I feel like it fails to reach a connection with its subject (and audience) in a way the original did. Just about passes the time due to 70's vibes though.

Second entry in the Stray Cat Rock series is mostly a waste of time despite the cool 70s vibes/aesthetics, aiming for a plotless French-New-Wave kinda thing with long, drawn out scenes of boys driving around doing nothing. Yawn. Meiko Kaji is basically just a background character in this one (although at least she gets to sing).

Actually kind of boring for a lot of the run time. Meiko Kaji is more a side character than one of the leads. This was kind of disappointing even though I'm not that big of a fan of this series.

Strange structure; starts as a youth gang film - with mostly male members unlike the 1st film. Some same actors play different roles here. It becomes a heist film near halfway point which doesn't leave much time to go through the plan, execute the heist and it's aftermath. You can tell that it's done by a different director; it's not as energetic or creatively shot/cut as the first; it's less "Rock", but still worth a watch. I enjoyed the beach/camping location - Stray Cat Rock goes Beach Party.

Cool gang movie with an even cooler heist scene at the end. Enjoyable!

The first 75 minutes are actually a snoozefest. But when a heist in the last 10 m goes horribly wrong the movie takes a sudden turn in tone. The dark bleakness of this ending stands in stark contrast to the leisurely pace and pseudo playfulness before. Which made the previous dull 75 minutes work in hindsight, because it puts the bored carefreeness of youth displayed by the characters before in a new perspective.
