Norman... Is That You?

Almost impossible to rate since it's a historical document more than a film - it's weirdly progressive and regressive at the same time. Garson is a terrible character but Dennis Dugan injects humanity into him, and some of his scenes with Foxx really work. They have no idea what to do with Norman though, and shove him noticeably aside. Pearl Bailey is great as a no-longer-repressed housewife. Absolutely awful cop out ending.

The opposite of a timeless film. Clumsily adapted from the stage, it's hard to give it a truly awful rating because it's actually pretty hard to look away!
