Northern Pursuit

flynn sure knew how to pick his roles, it may lack the finesse of his swordplay, but all the entertainment is here. never has a war time movie left me feeling so enthusiastic about the war effort afterward--not even mentioning that this one is about canadians.

A good genre piece

I wasn't expecting too much from this when it started, but it turned out to be a pretty good little war film. I was surprised at the ruthless violence portrayed in this film, but I guess the Breen office was OK with making the Nazis look completely cold and sadistic. It's not often in films from this time period to see two policemen killed onscreen in two separate instances.

Just a dang ol' good action flick, and the Nazis are particularly bad in this one.

Alright war flick sees Flynn's mountie in way over his head as Nazis trek over Northern Canada. The movie lacks any surprises, any tension, and any danger. Well made in that Warner Brothers way though.

Weaker Walshie-Flynn effort, but the m-e-s in this is so so good.

Errol Flynn in a entertaining Northern Pursuit (1943), pretending to be a Nazi, and not doing a very good job at it. That was pretty much the weak point of this movie. They took the suspense level a little too lightly. On the other hand, that made it closer to a traditional Errol Flynn, which is rarely a bad thing. But since Helmut Dantine was doing such a good job at being a nasty Nazi, it was a shame Flynn took the role so casual. Instead it becomes a traditional popcorn movie.
