A structural pet-peeve of mine hurts credibility here – the faux documentary where the "archival" footage is pretty clearly filmed by a professional film company and enacted by actors. Putting that aside, while initially philosophically intriguing, and served well by a vibrant cast, this comes unstuck once the film-makers' ambivalent approach to the group's dangerous and self-indulgent mind-sets is revealed and are not really interested in considering the characters as fully-rounded people.

Similar in some ways to von Trier's THE IDIOTS but inferior.

If I was involved in the art scene I would probably appreciate this much more, but I am not. I loved the film score though, it gave me a really haunted feeling.
