6 year old Shirley Temple sure is cute and could really make a crook-for-a-dad feel bad. Cooper portrayed a surprisingly selfish and criminal. The movie moves kind of slow. Henry Hathaway didn't really have much experience at this point and had for the most part just directed cheap Randolph Scott western. But a good supporting cast helps carry the load with Carole Lombard, Charlotte Granville and Guy Standing delivering strong performances. And who can forget Temple's stomp'n'sneeze song?!
