The fractured narrative structure of the first half threw me off a bit, but otherwise this was really good. I don't generally enjoy films with people digging themselves into a hole, but here it's done pretty effectively giving you just enough sympathy for the lead to want to see what happens but otherwise staying relatively detached. It helps that it's not so much a string of dumb decisions as just ineffective ones, everything makes sense in context and it's interesting to see how they turn out.

Pretty cool little vibe going with this one. Great photography and a Cool Jazz soundtrack. Maybe not as taut as it should be, but I'm starting to feel stronger about editing I guess - basically that a lot of movies could be perfected at 40/50 min runtimes... Sure some aren't long enough, but in general convention has demanded that many ideas be unnecessarily protracted, and it tends to hurt middling genre films most (which this is not exactly). /rant.

Really well directed British film noir but I found it hard to get involved when watching it. Protagonist lacks proper motivation so it's hard to understand why he goes to commit such extreme actions and to care about what happens to him. Besides the new developments in the last half-hour or so are either dull or ridiculous.
