Nuit et jour

Nuit et Jour estreava há 30 anos na França. Há uma forte vibe da Nouvelle Vague aqui, entre Une femme est une femme e os filmes do Doinel, mas Akerman obviamente reverte a coisa para uma potência totalmente feminista. Ah, Chantal, o que faria sem você na minha vida? DVDRip no MakingOff.

I'm a bit underwhelmed. It's not a bad film, I like the script and the pacing, but the acting is very stiff and inconsistent, which in a film as talky and supposedly full of passion as this hurts more than usual. It's not consistent enough for me to say it's deliberate, but I suppose some of it does create a distancing and melancholic effect that might be intentional. It doesn't ruin the film, since I otherwise quite like what it does and how it does it, but felt there was potential for more.

Four Nights of a Dreamer, but a comedy? One of the truest relationship films i have ever seen regardless of the mannered presentation. A masterpiece. Sadly nothing else i've seen by Akerman is really anything like this.
