Occupation

Imagine, if you will, being pounded in the butt (Chuck Tingle-style) by the 80s classic invasion flick Red Dawn while drunk on Fosters Light Ice that was served to you by an armor-clad alien with a snazzy cape. If the prospect of such an endeavor positively tingles your chuck, then...Occupation is still not worth your time or bandwidth.

The acting varied, sometimes pretty bad. The script was usually bad. Effects varied from mediocre to good. The alien design was beyond lazy. The pacing was okay. Plenty of meh characters, a few likable and unlikable characters, why some of them didn’t die I don’t know. The hostility of the aliens was also a bit forced. My biggest annoyance was the score, it would go from tense to 90’s family film in a split second, especially at the start. Skip this.

A few good performances. This plot and premise was far too ambitious for its low budget. The direction, choreography and editing was very poor. Uneven writing. Bits of the CGI and SFX was slightly interesting. Unconvincing aliens with idiotic black cloaks. Uneven music. If you can overlook it's many production flaws it is slightly worth watching.

Cut rate, cliche ridden sci-fi. It's serious and generic. Bombastic stories, high octane action, and effect heavy scenes have no place in budget sci-fi movies unless you can do it with a prominent sense of self awareness, but this felt more like misplaced confidence. But I do sometimes have moods for this kind of train wreck.
