Of Horses and Men

I watched this as 'Of Men and Their Cruelty to Horses,' despite the disclaimer preceding the closing credits. The quirkiness that Erlingsson seems intent on realising is very forced and laboured, which makes for an unsatisfying viewing experience (it felt to me like a feature-length Icelandic version of an episode of 'Monarch of the Glen'). If you desire films about horses and men/woman then you're better of watching 'La Bête' or the third vignette of 'Certain Women'.

Well shot, well scored, decent acting. Highlight for me was the boozy local riding his (stolen) horse out to sea to purchase sailor moonshine. The crowd got off on the gallop of the opening mare & sadly that wasn't the first time I've seen a man emerge from a horses carcass. Thanks Hannibal (edit 26/03/16) & now Revenant.

A scattered community of oddballs & their horses in the wilds of Iceland.That kind of thing might float your boat but I suspect not

Great, another film where we learn that we are just stupid animals after all.
