Okayo no kakugo

This was a well-made and really well-acted straightforward drama enlivened but a really interesting performance dance number.

The set-up is so simple. It's basically one situation and how the girl reacts to the bad news. Definitely one of the most symbolic Japanese films I've seen from 30s Japan. Took me a bit off-guard so I decided to watch it twice to be prepared for the unexpected visual ending. Lasting less then an hour one wishes there was lot more to this movie because of it's wonderful actors and beautiful tragic story. But the way it pans out with the drunken dance routine it still leaves a lasting impression.
