So many things I can't stand I should have hated it, but it's so ridiculously sincere that it instead became a constant source of amusement. The cheesy intro song, the terrible child actors, the stereotypes bursting out of every hole, the early bambi allusion before the kid turns around and shoots a deer, the terrible "comedy" introduction of the lead character, the list goes on and on. It helps that the pacing is very brisk so no matter how stupid it's rarely boring.

A Disney classic known only for its ability to make people cry.

Yeah, it's hokey (It's '50's Disney, what do you expect?) but it is very faithful to the original book. And really, the acting by all involved (including Tommy Kirk) is quite good. I don't care who you are, if you don't cry at the end, you're a bed-wetting Communist.

Classic childhood fare, although it terrified me every time. And upset me quite a bit.

Mediocre and hokey, but iconic for obvious reasons. And watching baby boomers cry over it is hilarious.

The only part of this film I remember is crying at the end. I think that's the only part that sticks with anyone. And I'm pretty sure no one has to see this movie anymore to know exactly what happens.
