Not just a great movie musical (and one of the last of its breed), but the best Dickens film, even though (perhaps because) it strays from the book. One of those wonderfully immersive movies where you feel like you're inside it. Terrific cast all up and down. A real joy. Freder watches this every winter and never gets tired of it. Wanted to be the Artful Dodger as a kid, but sadly was more like young Master Twist.

Borderline annoying but the lengthy song numbers (resulting in an indulgent overall running time) didn't succeed in souring my experience. The story is good, obviously, and the characters juicy. That being said, Lean's 1948 version is the version to turn to first, certainly.

Not a big fan of musicals or anything, but Oliver! is just really good. Funny, moving, good performances, excellent songs.

Oliver! is a great musical due to its phenomenal sets and costume design, not to mention its great music! Most of the songs are catchy and are still often used to this day in various projects. I really like this movie.

Marvellous, magical musical. Great score, brilliantly set, filmed and cast. Nothing will stop you from singing along with this. Well acted, great comedy moments and some real pathos. One to keep

It's difficult to say very much was bad about this film. Unless you have a distaste for musicals.

Almost as grating and irritating as Willy Wonka. Almost. But then, if you liked that, you'd probably love this.

It get's a little slow and dark toward the end, but this is a classic version of a classic story. Great music. Just consider yourself part of the furniture.

Lots of good songs. But honestly, a musical about Oliver Twist is like doing one about Dachau...and perhaps inevitably it tends to drag on a bit.

Some of the best big-number choreography in a movie musical ever. Astaire and Kelly may be masters of the dance solo, but the big set-piece numbers in Oliver! are some of the best.

Oliver Twist is a good story and it works pretty well as a musical as well. Some of the songs are longer than they should be, but at least they're well done and quite enjoyable.

Closer to the best you can hope for from that 50s/60s era of exquisitely-made, overlong musicals. Oliver!'s looks and choreography makes it very watchable, the songs are catchy, and most important of all the running time doesn't feel like too much.

Such a huge musical production adapted from the Charles Dickens novel, which captured the era and it's class divide so clearly. The film also managed to show an authentic look of London during the 19th Century, made possible from a huge ensemble of people working on the set design and build. Impressive casting abilities allowed for a perfectly selected group of Actors to bring the already established characters to life and do them justice and have made the characters, people whom weve all co

As someone who normally hates musicals I found this a pleasant surprise - mostly due to the sterling performances of Oliver Reed and Ron Moody, and some catchy songs. Nicely done.

"Oliver!" has its share of issues (including a length that runs a bit too long), but it's a classic and delightful musical with some classic numbers, characters, and performances.

It's timeless, which is all I'll say on this childhood favourite of mine. I had a big crush on Nancy (I think her name was) and the big guy in blue explaining "MOAAAAR?" scared me when I was little. My favourite musical adaptation of anything

This is a super aggressive musical. It's brash, loud, and confident with it's quality songs and choreography. The story is good, of course, though watered down a bit for the format. Could use a little editing though to reduce the runtime of some of those songs.

I remember it being good, particularly the songs. The adult aspect of the Bill Sikes and Nancy I didn't get as a child but I expect I'd find it harder hitting now.

A rollicking good time, as they say, despite the depressing subject matter. Tune after tune (often paired with epic choreography and sets) that make your toes tap and which move the story along at a rapid pace (as the viewer, you are never bored for a moment). Must admit that I did sing along to a few songs! Reed, Moody and Wild are all superb and ably supported by the likes of Wallis. Lester as Oliver, however, is too meek which makes for a weak performance.

The first half is so great. Lively and funny, contrasted against the bleak subject matter with huge production numbers. Then the second half just drags. Worth watching overall but very uneven.
