Remarkably frank depiction of lesbianism and power struggles between teachers and students at an opulent French boarding school. Tastelessness in the story is more than outweighed by strong performances, groundbreaking explicitness, and especially the stunning (and stunningly lit) production design. Check out the drag ball!

Heavy sensual vibes at the all-girls school results in emotional confusion and tragedy. A delicate drama with some fine performances. A little bit lacking in the story structure for me to really get deeply tangled into it, but no doubt a respectable effort.
